remember me?

ah oui
am the girl you set free
far out in the the deep blue sea
when they came a calling
all they found was a beating heart
and the makings of a new start

sometimes when you listen hard
over the falling rain
the water dregs up a beat
strong and steady
like the last retreat

ode to a sunset wrapped in a desert sarong

thank you for all the laughter and a million memories strong
nothing recedes without leaving behind…
an echo, a silhouette, an imagined warmth
with you, I’ve discovered time and tide come back for second chances
may they find me just a little wiser and a little happier
and a traveller for many a miles long
and should you call, I will play along
this time, for the love and the echoes of the song.

‘a dream within a dream’

she used to watch them from a distance
through the smog of days and cold of haze
autumnal joy and the glory of rain
the girl with a laugh and a smile
that never foretold about things to come
what she remembers of him was his eyes and
the cuff link pair and a watch thick and grey
together they formed a connection that ought to have withstood time
in the days that followed through the festivals and endless cheer
and work that led them through hiccups of sleepless nights
life was but a celebration of the whimsy of hearts
but when the connection broke and yes it did
she wonders if they just disappeared into the wide world
fragmented and torn, at peace and warm
sitting across strangers with a teacup in hand
making chitchat that didn’t really belong
did they watch from afar or did they look for life?

she didn’t think so…she was the connection after all.

it’s not goodbye, until we meet again

i still remember the stories we wove together
like a patchwork quilt suffused with color
i still remember the peacock dance to the first rain
and a sun that refused to show
i still remember the crazed running through streets
trying to locate your favorite incense vendor
i still remember the church with a white steeple
the fervent prayers for this moment to linger
i still remember the bazaar with beads and flowers
the unhurried tea as you had my fortune read
i still remember the flame of the burning candle
and a chilled night in december
i still remember the fireflies we chased
as we walked for hours under a moonless gaze
i still remember the look on your face
when she came over to say hello

if iam to forget, then i must say my farewells
this part of the journey, i find on my own
if we meet someday, please, i want you to walk away
for my mind is full of memories that refuse to fade.
