meet me far…

image

a look into the mirror
takes you back in time
when love was many a stolen glance
between puffs of winding smoke
when tea came cheap at two pence each
but to catch a glimpse of you, they came from far
when in between banter and many a verse
someone lost their nerve
while your smile was like the ode to joy

you sit now in quiet contemplation
writing a dispassionate prose
we are both past the age of poetry and till-now-forgotten loves, you see
you order two cups of tea
one for you
and one for me?

Beautiful and touching. The use of the mirror to transport you to a different place and time works wonderfully. Thank you for posting this! ❤

    • I sees that you have seen the hanging ‘l’ 😄😄..away with it !!…now then where have you been? I haven’t heard from you and that is just not done 😊we need to sit ourselves to some tea 😀

      • Surely you are in a good spirits now…I wonder what mischief you might be upto 😊but you has got to take care of your health ❤

      • I didn’t waste the day off and was quite prolific in putting down a series of short pieces to a story that has literally haunted me for a while. Guess I just needed the space and time to distill the story….

      • It’s amazing how some quiet and a lil distance from the real and now can offer you a clarity of thought …hope the weekend is a relaxed one ❤🌻🌺🌷

  2. Tea and tea cups are the common factor in your post. Tea lover I guess!

Anyways very beautifully written, was very calming. I should say it came close to the ode to joy symphony by Beethoven 😉

      • Quaint tea shops, hmm.. you know I used to ride down to this small quaint tea shop in the slight drizzles on my bike (bullet) to have a cup of strong tea… oh memories…. 😥 But now I stopped drinking tea.

Have a great time and enjoy your tea 🙂

      • Life was good then. it’s just not the drive, it’s in drizzles and that would make the tea special. The bullet makes the ride amazing 😀

  3. Loved the thoughts and memories this evoked. 🙂 How do you get so much colour in your photo? – such a beautiful companion to your poem. And there is nothing quite as reviving as a cup of tea 🙂

    • Ah that makes me happy…it truly does…❤❤❤one of these days we shall trace notes of our secret tea recipes …thre can be quite a few if one is adventurous enough 😃

You are welcome. It’s one of my favorite songs. I have heard this song from a movie. If you haven’t watched it (ignore if you have already) please do so. It’s ‘Before Sunrise’.

  4. Tender nostalgia greets me with your words. Heaven forbid I get too old for poetry! Not me! And to think upon sweet memories as you did right here, brings memories of my own simmering to the aroma of tea. (smile) Thank you for this post. Love, Amy

    • Life spent sitting in a college cafeteria spouting words that rhymed …idyllic days….😊😊and now with a more enhanced vocabulary one tends to get cautious I suppose…ah no poetry lives on…as long as tea is to be found….but it’s different from the one you did when you were seventeen I suppose…frivolous words thrown in without caution .😄

Kismet this is a bit tough for me.i believe you thought of you and the ‘you’ in mirror as two different people in two different time periods.Looking or thinking of that beautiful love generating time period you wrote this beautiful poem with a cup of coffee in your hands right?so you are basically saying this cheaply available cup of coffee has bought you timeless and precious thoughts 🙂

    • yes….it’s a comparison to the carefree world enjoyed over tea in college…versus life now when you know many more words but they don’t come so easily as you are guarded ..😊😊

    • I don’t think you would believe me if I told you that is exactly what iam having right now?? …..it’s quiet and in my lil corner of the balcony is tea and rusk with some strawberry jam …😀😀the best part of any day…and you sir are invited 😊😊

      • Rusk and strawberry jam! Weave my matinee dreams henceforth, won’t you 🙂 it sounds like what should be everybody’s best day. I’m glad you told me this, much ❤ and marmalade-ness
